Congratulations to our own Stacy Symbol who is getting an apartment building in Westbrook named after her for her work as Chair of the Housing Authority for 14 years. Stacy strived to build affordable housing for older adults, and is now being recognized.
Check out these 3rd grade cougars, Ali and Trevinho, who interviewed Mrs. Symbol about the building being named after her for a writing project that they are doing with Mrs. Powers!
Last week we had a very special guest join us, author Kelly Starling Lyons! Kelly talked with our cougars about how she became an author and the inspiration behind her books. Additionally, our Den Ambassadors helped to greet Kelly Starling Lyons with banners and thank you notes before our assembly.
We want to hear from you! We are beginning to develop the school budget proposal for 2025-26. Please participate in the attached Community Survey to share your thoughts. Thank you!

Mrs. Pecoraro’s and Mrs. Powers’s fourth grade class have been working on memoir writing where they have been focusing on stories in their lives with an important message. The fourth grade cougars invited Mrs. Townsend’s third grade class to come in and provide feedback using a TAG protocol: T- tell something you like. A- ask a question. G- give a suggestion. The cougars did a great job!
Happy Veterans Day! Check out the letters and artwork that were made by our FLS students and 3rd and 4th grade cougars! These will be sent to local veterans.
Happy Election Day! Today our 3rd and 4th grade cougars got to participate in a mock election! Students took turns being in charge of the registration table, and students participated in voting! Students had a great time, and they got to hear the results on the announcements at the end of the day!
We hope everyone was able to get out and vote safely today at the Community Center!

Dress as your favorite book character tomorrow!
This month we are focusing on the theme of gratitude. Students are earning gratitude feathers whenever a teacher is grateful that a student did something. Students can also give feathers to adults whenever an adult does something that a student appreciates! Check out Gio who gave Mrs. Richardson a gratitude feather!
More pictures from our gratitude assembly!
Happy Bus Driver/Crossing Guard Appreciation Week! We love our bus drivers and crossing guards. This week, we celebrate all that they do for our students to keep them safe.
We had an amazing group of sixth graders join us at Congin today for Unity Day! These students helped out by cleaning up the outside of Congin!
Check out these first grade cougar artists! Ms. Armstrong had students do a guided art project where they created fall birch trees. Pretty impressive!
Our cougars had a Fire Prevention and 911 information session with some local firefighters. The students learned a lot about safety and got to see firefighters in action!
Take a look at Mrs. Morowski’s kindergarten cougars! As a class, students read “The Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn, and then students made puppets to retell the story!
Hat Day to celebrate our work with Respect! Check out all of these awesome cougars sporting their hats!
Did you know that we do video announcements each day? All classrooms get on a Google Meet link and watch a live video of announcements. Mr. Bisson goes into classrooms and does the announcements with one student until all of the students have had a chance to co-anchor, and then he moves on to another classroom. Our announcements consist of the Pledge of Allegiance, our daily mantra, the weather, any news, and we end our time with some jokes to start our day. This is a great way to build and maintain our strong Congin Cougar community! Check out these cougars from Mrs. Pecoraro’s 4th grade class doing the announcements!
