The second quarter is well underway, and that means the end of first semester is coming up. In fact, there are really only 5 school weeks until the semester comes to a close. The week of January 16 will be dedicated to midterm exams, with Friday, January 19, being the last day of the semester. Testing days will run from Tuesday, 1/16, through Friday, 1/19, consisting of two 90 minute exam periods plus a makeup period each day. As the big exams approach, we will send out several reminders and helpful preparation tips to students and families. Additionally, teachers will share review packets and study guides.
Families, please encourage students to get started early in terms of their preparation. It is far better to do a little bit over a long period of time, than to try to squeeze a lot into the last day or two before the exam. Having plenty of time to get ready, even just reminding themselves that exam week is coming up, helps students mentally prepare and goes a long way toward minimizing stress and anxiety.
Lastly, let's not forget about the benefits of solid sleep habits and good nutrition. They play a bigger role in student success than we typically acknowledge.
