The WHS chapter of Partners for Prevention runs a student group called Youth Leadership Coalition, which does incredible work both in the school and community tackling the issue of substance use and prevention. A few months back, our amazing youth team learned about resilience and substance use prevention, reviewed local-level data, and reached out to many members of the Westbrook community. The group decided to create a community art installation through collaborative efforts with the Westbrook community. That mural was on display at the Westbrook Community Center for a stretch and is currently displayed prominently in the main lobby of the high school.
Shoutout to Janet Dosseva, the WHS Partners for Prevention coordinator. Within her scope as WPFP leader, Janet fosters a vibrant culture of student voice and participation that makes projects like this one possible.
