The Blue Blazes had a great fall out on the athletic fields. A huge shoutout to all of our student athletes for representing WHS with excellence, pride, and stellar sportsmanship.
The Volleyball team had an inspired run, posting a winning record for the first time in the history of the program and giving the reigning state champion Yarmouth team everything they could handle in a hard fought playoff game last week. On the 5k courseWHS Football ended the season with back-to-back wins, including a shellacking of Cape Elizabeth this past Friday. The Cheer team was a big part of all the buzz and positivity this fall, in particular when they made the extra effort to get to the last game at Cape. Girls Soccer had their ups and downs, but through it all they maintained outstanding attitudes and managed to always play their hardest. Make no mistake – the future is bright for this group! Boys Soccer had another solid season with several exciting wins and a playoff berth in the Class A tournament, where they fell just short in their first round matchup against Biddeford. The Golf team won a big point this season, which is a big improvement over last year. More importantly, they learned a ton and had a great time! Last but certainly not least, Cross Country was a small but talented group. We did not overwhelm the competition with hordes of runners, but the ones we put out on the course were among the fiercest competitors in the state. In fact, our own Megan Garber will be competing this Saturday at the state meet at Twin Brook in Cumberland. Go get ‘em, Meg!
