In the history of our school, the WHS Blue Blazes Football Team has never played in the State Championship game. That is, until now! After finishing the season in first place and earning a buy in the first round of the playoffs, the Blazes got past a tough Marshwood team in the South Semifinal. Then last weekend we took down Kennebunk for the second time this season to win the South. Now it is on to Cony in the state game! This group has already made history, but one more win means getting to the top of a mountain never before summitted by Westbrook football. Let's go!!!
This has been a season of destiny, and not just on the gridiron. Congrats to our WHS Marching Band & Color Guard on their first place finish at the NESBA Championship! (That means all of New England!) They also made history, as it was the first time in the 40 year history of the NESBA Championship that Westbrook has taken home the gold! This program has had a ton of success over the years, arguably more success than any other music program (or sports for that matter), not only here at WHS, but across the state. And yet, never before have we won the New England title... until this year!
Congratulations to these two incredible programs on all the success this year. Go Blue!!!
