Congratulations to the Class of 2026! Our amazing WHS seniors have applied to colleges and universities all across the country, from right here in our back yard all the way to the Pacific coast and everywhere in between, and they have been receiving some great news! Two seniors were accepted at Colby (despite an eye popping 7% acceptance rate!), and several more at Northeastern (with its 5% acceptance rate!), to name just a couple. This elite class has truly made the most of Westbrook High School's top tier program offerings.

Come out to 8th Grade Family Night! It's tonight at 6pm. We will begin in the WHS Auditorium before heading out into the school for a tour, during which families can see all of the key spots and spaces, and more importantly meet the wonderful and talented staff of Westbrook High School.

Come out and see the one act play! It is called "Sweep Under Rug," and it is amazing! (...as usual.) Our Drama Club is excited to unveil this year's performance, which they will be bringing to the state one act festival and competition on Saturday. There is a show for the public this Friday at 7:00pm at the WHS Auditorium. It could be your only chance to see it. Don't miss out! Doors open at 6:30pm.

Come out and cheer on the Blazes Girls Basketball Team this Tuesday at 1pm at the Portland Expo. The Blazes will be taking on defending state champ South Portland. It should be a barn burner and a huge crowd, so get there early!

Thank you to the Amazing WRVC staff, Director Noyes, and Assistant Director Bennett for welcoming our students to the Center this week! Many of our 10th graders toured the vocational programs they were interested in. The students who participated raved about how dynamic the WRVC programs are and how exciting the career possibilities are. Thank you, Westbrook Regional Vocational Center!

On behalf of the editing staff, I'm excited to announce that our first Whispered Thoughts (WHS's literary and art magazine) release party will be on Thursday, February 5th, from 3:00-4:30 in the library.

Come see student poets, writers, and artists showcase their talent!

In light of what is happening at the present moment, we want to also acknowledge that some students and families in our community do not feel safe. To support those impacted, we're asking that attendees bring donations of nonperishable food items for Westbrook Families Feeding Families.

*Exams begin at 8:00AM and 10:00AM daily. If students do not have academic classes, e.g. Academic Prep, Learning Lab, etc., they do not need to come to school for those periods. However, they are free to come sit in the cafeteria to study during those times.

Winter break begins after school on Friday, December 19, and extends until Monday, January 5. There will be no school the week of December 22 and the week of December 29. Have a wonderful break, and we look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year!

Breakfast services are changing slightly in order to best accommodate students’ needs. Here are the basic details...

•The cafeteria will serve breakfast beginning at 7:15 AM and ending at 7:40 AM.
• Period 1 begins at 7:50 AM.
• Students who are tardy to school will be able to access breakfast as they pass through the main entry on their way to Period 1. That will run from 7:50 - 8:50 AM.

Our State Champion Football Team and New England Champion Marching Band & Color Guard will be honored this Saturday with a parade down Main Street, beginning at Bridge Street and ending at Riverbank Park. The parade starts at 10:00 AM. Come out and support these two amazing programs!

Come out and support the Westbrook Blue Blazes Football Team in the State Championship game tomorrow at 2:30pm at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland. GO BLUE!!!

Congrats to the WHS Football Blazes on a huge win over Marshwood last Friday! This team continues to reach new heights. Come out to Historic Olmstead Field this Friday at 6pm to cheer on the top seeded Blue Blazes as we host the Kennebunk Rams in the Regional Final. A trip to the State Championship game at Fitzpatrick Stadium on Saturday, 11/22, is on the line.

It's trivia time again! This year's WHS Trivia Team, under the tutelage of Becky Bailey, is looking to follow up on last year's success. These guys have their sights set on state dominance! Congratulations to junior Ezra Burke (Team Captain), juniors Joel Whitehead, Kevin Tran, David Bolling, and Isaac Crabtree, and freshman Chris Mendoza for making it into the Sweet 16! Stay tuned as they make a run at the title of "High School Quiz Show: Maine" champions!

This Thursday we have our first conference day. It is set aside for team meetings with students and families. Next Thursday (11/13) is our traditional individual teacher conference day. Drum Major Jazzy Alcide (pictured left) led the WHS Marching Band & Color Guard to a 5 star performance at Well High School on Saturday. Wow, 5 STARS!!! The band and guard bring their amazing "The Light Within" show to the state finals this week. Go Blazes!

Monday, 10/20, is Picture Retake Day! If your student missed school pictures the first time around, it's time to break out that flashy outfit and get the hair just right. School pictures are for the yearbook (for students in grades 9-11), for school identification cards, and for Infinite Campus profiles.
