Each student brought their own creativity and passion to the table. Royce crafted a menu inspired by the bold and iconic flavors of New York street food, while Tony designed a spicy, vibrant Haitian-inspired menu. Both menus were thoughtfully planned and beautifully executed, highlighting the incredible talent of these chefs in training.
As part of this special experience, students were encouraged to invite a few important people in their lives to attend the luncheon. Royce and Tony welcomed several Gorham High School staff members and family, making the event not only a professional milestone but also a meaningful personal celebration.
We are so proud of Royce and Tony for their hard work, creativity, and dedication.

We are proud to share that all 10 students successfully passed, an outstanding accomplishment that reflects their dedication and skill. We also extend our sincere thanks to our Automotive Technology instructors for their commitment and hard work in preparing students for this important milestone.

This Pregnancy Simulation has students navigating the hallways and mastering daily tasks with a "baby bump." Our students are getting a hands-on lesson in the physical demands and physiological changes of pregnancy. It also promotes empathy and understanding of the physical strain patients face. It’s all fun and games until you have to tie your shoes! 👟😅 Great job to our future healthcare pros for participating in this challenge!

Congratulations to WRVC student Riley D. and our own WHS cook and School Nutrition Administrative Assistant, Kelly Bourgeois, who won the Southern Maine School Nutrition Cook-Off on Friday, representing Westbrook as team Blue Blazes. They have now been invited to attend the State of Maine Cook-off on April 8th in Bangor. We had some wonderful feedback from the judges of the cook-off (including the School Nutrition Director in Gorham, a chef from RSU 14, and Eric S., a 6th Grade Student at Westbrook Middle School), as well as the staff of the Department of Education Child Nutrition Office.

SkillsUSA... Champion Your Future!
We are excited to share that WRVC has 35 students competing at the SkillsUSA Maine State Championships on March 12–13. Students will be participating as competitors, volunteers, or models supporting the competitions. This two-day event in Bangor brings together Career and Technical Education students from across the state to demonstrate the technical, academic, and professional skills they have developed in their programs.
We are incredibly proud of these students for representing their programs, schools, and communities while showcasing the excellence of CTE. Please help us celebrate these students and our staff!!! Stay tuned as more information will be coming after they return from Bangor!

Several members of the Portland team also finished cutting the utility poles used to stabilize our mock house, which we use for hose drill and other trainings.
A huge thank you to these incredible professionals for their time, generosity, and continued partnership. We are so grateful for the real-world learning opportunities they provide our students! ❤️🔥

Employers emphasize the importance of showing up as a critical employability skill. Likewise, WRVC recognizes being present and showing up on time demonstrates commitment, reliability and responsibility. To celebrate students who are consistently showing up and giving their best, WRVC is excited to share the results of our second attendance raffle, recognizing strong attendance for the second quarter.
We entered over 150 names of students whose attendance has been at 95% or higher between November 3rd and January 9th into a raffle. Our winners for Tech I are: Shelby Easter from Criminal Justice, Brady Griffin from Business Education, and Marcus Katane from Automotive Technology. Our Tech II winners are Isiah Irish from Auto Tech, Landon Misiuk from Culinary Arts, and Isabell Stoll from Medical Occupations. Thank you for showing up and working hard!
The winners of this raffle each receive a coupon for a free drink from WRVC's Brew N Business Cafe! Congratulations! We will be having more raffles moving forward!

Through collaborative work with partners, students made detailed observations, documented their findings, and identified key kidney structures they have been studying. Seeing and handling the organ in person helped deepen their understanding of how the urinary system functions, while also reinforcing professionalism, teamwork, and technical skills that are critical in healthcare careers.

What do students in our Fire Fighting Program do after a major snowfall? They put on their gear and clear snow from around fire hydrants near WRVC! Thanks to Lt. Brooks Fire Fighting for adding community safety into stoday's workout! Great work!

Once the food was fully broken down, the contents were transferred into pantyhose to represent the large intestine. Students then removed as much liquid as possible to illustrate how the large intestine absorbs water and electrolytes. The driest result highlighted optimal large-intestine function.
This engaging lab helps students visualize how food moves through the digestive system while reinforcing key concepts about digestion and nutrient absorption—and it’s always a student favorite!

Students also discussed the value of socialization in healthcare... supporting patients by accompanying them to the dining room and encouraging community interaction to help restore healthy eating habits. In addition, they are learning about colostomy bags and the care involved, building both technical skills and compassionate patient-centered awareness.
