Dear friends, The next two days are predicted to have very cold temperatures and wind chills. We are planning on a full day of school tomorrow, Friday, February 3, with regular activities. Our schools will have indoor recess and limit any time students spend outdoors. I know there are concerns about students who walk to school. I have asked the Transportation Department to offer a ride to any student they see walking tomorrow. Drivers will also take extra time to wait for students who may be in cars or houses waiting for buses. If you prefer to keep your child home, please call the school to let us know.  Our school social workers and nurses have warm clothing and outerwear for students if they need extra gloves, scarves, hats, mittens, or boots. Please let us know if you need items; we are here to help.  The City of Westbrook has set up two warming centers on Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4: at the Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main Street, 10am-5pm and at the Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge Street, 7am-7pm. These are open to the public with warm spaces, restrooms, and charging stations. Take care, stay strong, and stay warm over these next couple of days.  Dr. Peter Lancia Superintendent of Schools

Breakfast will be available when students arrive. There will be no before school activities and preschool classes are cancelled today.

Snow
Because a number of sidewalks, streets, and parking lots are still being treated and cleared of snow from yesterday’s storm, there will be a TWO HOUR DELAYED START OF SCHOOL today, Tuesday, January 24. That means that schools will open two hours after their regular times and buses will pick up students two hours after their scheduled times. Staff should not arrive until that time to allow the lots to be cleared. Breakfast will be served when students arrive. There will be no before school activities and PreK classes are canceled. For Westbrook High School students and families: Mr. Colgan will inform you of today’s schedule for mid-term exams. Take care and be safe!

Snow
Due to another snow storm, there will be NO SCHOOL in Westbrook today, Monday, January 23. It’s another old fashioned snow day with no remote learning, no before school, after school, or evening activities, and no pre-school. So, go back to sleep, finish the books and movies you started the other day, and go outside to play in the snow when you can. Help out with some shoveling too. Again, there is NO SCHOOL in Westbrook today. Take care and be safe. Peter Lancia, Superintendent of Schools

The Art wing at Westbrook High School is alive with creativity! In addition to student classroom art assignments filling the hallways, we are featuring here an original mural in progress by our talented Art club member Yidong Mongu. The positive message at the top of the mural says, 'Make Someone Smile!'
