Look at all of these responsible cougars! Students are earning responsibility apples at home, at school, and on the bus! We are off to a great start!

More pictures of our responsibility assembly!

In Mrs. Beliveau’s class, students read “Mad Is Not Bad” by Kelly Oriard and Callie Christensen. Students learned that it is okay to be mad and they learned how to resolve conflict productively. Take a look at these creations!

Take a look at these cougars who earned a lunch bunch with Mrs. Armstrong and her intern Ms. Conlogue! Students get to earn these lunches by following directions and by being great cougar role models.

Our Cougars are still focusing on respect this month and they are doing a great job earning their rays of respect. Check out these bulletin boards around our school to remind our students of respect. Mrs. Wellman created one with examples of how students can be respectful, and Mrs. Powers created one about respecting people’s names. These are great reminders for staff and students about respect as we continue this theme for this month.

Check out Mrs. Walls's 1st grade cougars! These students read "Elmer" as a class. Elmer is an elephant who has different colors than other elephants, and he learns that being different is okay! The students then created their own versions of Elmer!

We love Westbrook Schools, especially Congin School!

Did you know that at Congin, we have morning meetings in each class? This is a great way for teachers to build a classroom community. Morning meetings can include greetings, share time, a learning component, etc. Take a look at these morning meetings in action. In Ms. Bertino’s class, students greeted each other and then discussed words that are synomyms. In Mrs. Lappin’s class, students participated in an interactive read aloud! And in Ms. Doherty’s class, the students discussed expectations around the school and made a plan for the day!

The Portland Elks Lodge 188 came to Congin and delivered donations of school supplies, snacks, mittens, and recess toys to support our staff and students. Thank you Portland Elks Lodge!

Where is Mr. Bisson?! Mrs. Rounds’s third grade cougars were using their inferential skills to figure out where Mr. Bisson ended up! Check out the students in action.

Our cougars had a very exciting Field Day! Students participated in a variety of activities including wet sock throwing, parachutes, kickball, and water toss, just to name a few. We ended the day cheering on our fourth graders who participated in a scooter race. Ms. McLaughlin’s class came out on too. Thank you to all of our volunteers, PTO, Mrs. Murphy, and Ms. Fulton to make this all happen!
